As a university, our goal is to provide every possible resource to help our students succeed. Every single C-N student has access to a support network of those who care for their well-being—mind and body—right on campus.

If you need immediate assistance, please contact the 24/7 Department of Public Safety number at 865-548-9067 or their back-up number at 865-389-9380. The closest Emergency Room to campus is Tennova’s Jefferson Memorial Hospital located at 110 Hospital Drive in Jefferson City, TN 37760. The hospital phone number is 865-471-2500.
Counseling Services
C-N Counseling Services supports the mission of Carson-Newman University to help all students enhance their personal growth to reach their full God given potential as educated citizens and worldwide servant leaders. An invaluable resource, counseling helps students handling stress stemming from emotional, social, or academic difficulties. Counseling Services offers individual, couples and group counseling, crisis intervention, psycho-educational counseling, as well as online mental health assessments and referrals to community resources. All appointments are free and confidential. Talking to a licensed professional can help with managing stress and anxiety, building healthy relationships, balancing school, work and/or social activities, time management, studying and test-taking skills.
Health Services
Staffed by a full-time family nurse practitioner (FNP) and experienced in triaging various medical problems, C-N Health Services provides non-emergent outpatient care for all currently enrolled students on campus. Limited appointments are available with a family nurse practitioner (FNP) upon request. A medical doctor serves as medical director of Health Services and is available for RN and FNP consultation.
Disability Services
C-N is committed to accommodating students with every range of abilities. Each case is approached with individual care and in accordance with specific disabilities. Students may make requests for accommodations with appropriate documentation, such as description of symptoms, functional limitations, evaluation and past accommodations, to the Director of Disability Services. Students are advised to make requests prior to enrollment for the semesters to ample time can be allowed to arrange accommodations.
Case Management
Case Management is here to help students navigate the challenges and the obstacles that EVERY student experiences. We accomplish our mission by connecting students to on-campus and off-campus resources, help students communicate with their instructors concerning excused absences and provide ongoing follow up and support as needed. We want students to have the academic success and level of well-being they desire while reaching their full potential as educated citizens and worldwide servant-leaders.
